Submit your VAT return to HMRC from your own books, with every box explained first.
The nine boxes are filled from your reconciled transactions. Open any box to see what's behind it, read what it means, then submit through Making Tax Digital without leaving the app.
VAT filing is included in Business Pro, £19 a month plus VAT.
Open any box and see the transactions behind it.
Every figure traces back to a reconciled transaction. If a number looks wrong, the breakdown shows you which invoice or bill to look at.
- Boxes 1 to 5 each carry a one-line explanation on the review step.
- Nothing goes to HMRC until someone with authority presses Submit to HMRC.
Set your scheme once, and the boxes follow it.
The scheme you’re on changes what belongs in each box. Tell it in VAT settings and the return is worked out to match.
VAT accounting basis

Your flat rate percentage is applied to turnover, and the explanations change to say so.
Tax reserves
VAT account balance£4,100.00
VAT due this quarter£3,584.00

Your periods come straight from HMRC, so you see what’s open and when it’s due. Past returns stay under Return history.

Common questions
Does it file straight to HMRC?
Yes. Returns go to HMRC through Making Tax Digital from inside the app. You don't need bridging software.
I'm on the Flat Rate Scheme. Does it work for me?
Yes. Set it in VAT settings and the boxes are worked out on the flat rate, with explanations to match.
Can my accountant check it before it goes?
Yes. A return can wait at review for as long as you need, and nothing is sent until someone with authority submits it.
What if I got a box wrong last time?
Small errors go on your next return. Above HMRC's limit, it tells you a VAT652 is needed.
